The Truth About our Journey

The truth about attempting to build a homestead with teenagers is that it doesn’t always work out like you think it will. Our beginning began when our children were almost teenagers. We did enjoy a couple of years with new animals and trying our hand at gardening; however, with the onset of the teen years, beginning driving, beginning to date, and finally beginning college classes, we failed to keep their full attention. Don’t get me wrong, these were wonderful years, but life took over. Now that both of our children have moved into their twenties and began their own lives, it rests on us to continue to build a semi self-sustainable life.

The good news is that we are both retired now and have the time to fully develop and enjoy our little homestead. With plenty to do on our little homestead we keep busy, but not too busy, and enjoy every bit of fun that it offers us. As we get older this little homestead is proving to provide exercise and new activities to enjoy in our silver years as we enjoy life and each other.
